It is imperative that we respect and honor everyone in our jobs. Respect is one of the most important character values upon which George Williams started the YMCA movement in 1844.

As membership staff, we have two different areas of responsibility. The first is to our jobs and our job duties and functions. The second is to our members and their experience at the YMCA. Both are very important.

In life, being honest with people is key to building any relationship. It is no different in the YMCA. When we are honest with our members and other staff, we become more credible and trustworthy.

People want to seek people who will care for them. It is our job as staff members to constantly stay true to our mission and to seek ways to show our members that we care for them.

In the YMCA, Faith means to have faith in yourself and your abilities, to have faith and trust that your fellow staff members are there to help you, to have faith in the YMCA organization, and to have faith in God.
