Bud Wilkinson believed that “the will to prepare is more important than the will to win,” but in that belief, the legendary University of Oklahoma football coach won a record 47 straight games, a mark still unequalled to this day.

In Bud’s mind, “Winning the Wilkinson Way” was not as much about the final destination, as it was about the journey to reach the final goal. According to Bud’s son, Jay Wilkinson, Winning the Wilkinson Way is about a process in which preparation, dedication, effort and sacrifice, both for the cause and for the good of the team, are what matter most and that success is a natural and inevitable extension of these processes.

Inspired by a series of 47 letters Bud wrote to Jay during his undergraduate and graduate years of university study, Winning the Wilkinson Way offers a clear framework and pathway to enhancing performance and creating more effective and efficient group dynamics.

At the center of Winning the Wilkinson Way is the equation “4 + 7 = SUCCESS” where the Four Core Principles of Transformational Leadership coupled with the Seven Steps to Gaining Greatness provide both the fundamentals and the execution to achieving transformational change both in the lives of individuals as well as the dynamics of groups, organizations and companies.
